Australian booking agency Village Sounds has opened an office in Singapore. Its Sydney-based co-director and booking agent Evan Davis said, "We felt it important to have a presence in Asia, given it’s such a growing market on the live music scene around the world.”

The Singapore agent is Melissa Yong, of music news website Other Sounds. Singapore-born Yong, who lived in Australia for eight years, toured, promoted and worked on events in the past 12 months as part of Other Sounds. Davis added, “We felt Melissa was a great fit to launch the agency in Asia, given her understanding of Australian bands and the Asian touring market, along with her enthusiasm and excitement about the partnership.’’

The first Australian act to tour the region as part of the new partnership is Brisbane’s Last Dinosaurs. They play the Singapore Camp Symmetry Festival with Best Coast & The Cribs (November 2), clubs in  Bangkok (Nov 6) and Manila (Nov 22), and then the Urbanscapes Festival in Kuala Lumpur with Franz Ferdinand, Two Door Cinema Club and Metric (Nov 23).
