Vampire Weekend’s long rumoured move to Sony Music has been confirmed with their highly anticipated fourth album expected to be released on the Columbia imprint
The US indie band was with XL Recordings, issued in Australia through Remote Control, for ten years and three albums.
In May, the band posted two mysterious Instagram posts, a Sony television and a Columbia fleece jacket.
Around that month, the band confirmed their next album was 94.5% done.
That record has been listed in a Sony Corp financial statement as a “noteworthy project” for the quarter ending September 30.
Their last album, Modern Vampires Of The City, came out five years ago.
The new record will be the first without multi-instrumentalist and founding member Rostam Batmanglij who left in 2016.
