Create NSW is offering up to $500,000 in funding to support NSW arts companies and organisations to share their works with the UK market in 2022.

The funding will support NSW artists, performers, writers and musicians to deliver work to the UK after March 2022. The money could cover creatives' fees, travel, accommodation, visas and quarantine costs.

Each applicant is able to apply for up to $100,000, with expressions of interest open now until June 20.

Projects eligible to apply include musical tours, exhibitions, festivals, broadcasts or digital works that explore the theme of 'Who are we now?', reflecting on the shared history and culture of the UK and Australia.

Create NSW executive director Chris Keely said that the 2022 UK/Australia Season will provide NSW-based artists with the opportunity to reach new audiences.

“This opportunity will provide our artists, performers, writers and musicians with a platform to share NSW’s best arts and cultural programs to an international audience and increase physical and digital touring opportunities in key markets,” Keely said.

“Importantly, it will also give artists the opportunity to develop networks at a time when connecting is more important than ever, and further strengthen relationships and international partnerships between the United Kingdom and Australia.

“Culture is a key element in our bilateral relationship and is critical to growing NSW’s creative ties with the UK as they open back up – this initiative highlights the importance of cultural collaboration and growing our economic, artistic and cultural connections to a UK audience.”

The UK/Australia Season is a joint initiative by the British Council and the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), to strengthen and build cultural connections between the two nations.
