Brisbane singer songwriter Robbie Miller stepped into some big shoes earlier this year when triple j Unearthed picked the 24 year old muso as the winner of our annual National Indigenous Music Awards competition, following on from 2012’s inaugural winner Thelma Plum. The win came on the back of his heartbreaking tune Don’t Go Walking Away with its lump-in-the-throat emotional resonance, and since performing at the NIMAs in Darwin back in August, Miller has kicked on recently - touring with The Paper Kites and prepping his debut EP.

Sunday, the latest taste of the upcoming release, has arrived on Unearthed and continues to show Miller’s gift for tone and the sensitivity to his songwriting. Miller’s voice is once again front and centre, his rich intonations sounding beyond his years. The gentle guitar needling and sparse drums only add to the emotion of the tune, but there’s an unmistakable warmth here too.
