Triple J's annual Hottest 100 CDs/soulless digital files might just have a contender when it comes to the station's number one compilation series, especially after Vol. 13 of Like A Version debuted at #1 on this week's ARIA chart.

This marks the fifth consecutive time the compilation has debuted at #1 on the ARIA charts, with Vol. 9 hitting #1 in October, 2013 - and each subsequent release debuting in the top spot each October since. It's certainly a yearly tradition we can get behind.

The timing is great for both ABC Music and 'Like A Version', with an introductory 21-track compilation released in the U.S. market last month - through ABC's recent partnership with MGM.

Like A Version has growth from a segment in 2005 to an internationally-recognised brand.

“It wasn’t long before we all realised this wasn’t just a run-of-the-mill idea", Triple J explained last month, after entering the U.S. market. "There was something a little more special about Like A Version. It stayed fun, but it also got a LOT bigger – it now sits in the station’s most popular time slot – during our Breakfast shift every Friday morning.

"To say it’s become a national institution is perhaps hyperbole. But we’ll say that and challenge you to prove us wrong.”
