Big Hit Entertainment Co, the US$1 billion valued entertainment company behind the biggest K-Pop act BTS, is looking at Australia for its next global girl band.

Big Hit, along with its newly acquired Source Music, will hold auditions in 16 cities around the world – including Perth in October 12 and Melbourne on October 13.

Details of the actual auditions will be issued shortly, the companies said.

The other cities include Singapore, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Bangkok, Busan, Gwangju, Osaka, Sapporo, Taipei:,
Seoul, Kaohsiung, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh.

The Plus Global Auditions will be conducted by CEO Bang Si-Hyuk, who founded Bit Hit in February 2005, and CBO Min Hee-jin, with the new act to be launched in 2021.

The companies stated: “The two companies plan to fully utilize their capacities in launching the next-generation girl group backed by the know-hows accumulated home and abroad.”

Big Hit’s businesses cover music production, artist management, publishing and concerts.

The flagship BTS are currently on an extended break after a five-year relentless schedule, and Big Hit signed its newest act, Tomorrow x Together in March.

In July Big Hit bought over south Korean entertainment company Source Music, who managed the idol group GFriend, and operates as its subsidiary.

Both companies previously worked together co-managing the now-disbanded groups Glam and 8Eight.

Lee Hyun, a former 8Eight member, is currently signed to Big Hit as a soloist.
