BTS' Comeback Netflix Special Draws Almost 20 Million Viewers

BTS' comeback special on Netflix was a long time coming for fans and the numbers proved it.
As reported by Variety, last weekend's BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang pulled in a staggering 18.4 million viewers. That number covers the initial livestream and the following 24 hours of on-demand viewing.
The special, which marked the K-pop superstars' first public reunion after a nearly four-year hiatus, was filmed at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, South Korea. The concert special cracked the top 10 most-watched Netflix titles in 80 countries and hit the number one spot in 24 of them. On a global scale, it was the most-watched non-English-language TV title for the week of March 16-22.
It’s not just eyeballs they’re grabbing, either. The group's new album, Arirang, also had a monster debut, racking up 110 million Spotify streams on its first day. To put that in perspective, that's double the debut of Harry Styles' Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, making it the biggest album debut of 2026 so far.
This level of success is hardly a surprise for BTS — comprised of RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook — who were a global phenomenon before their hiatus. The break was largely to accommodate the members' mandatory military service, with the group planning to reconvene in 2025.
BTS has a history of turning any location into an iconic stage. The group famously shut down Grand Central Station in New York to perform their track 'ON', and for a special #BTSWeek on The Tonight Show, they took over Seoul’s historic Gyeongbok Palace.
Netflix is clearly banking on the BTS hype train continuing, with the streamer teasing an upcoming documentary titled BTS: The Return. After the live special generated a reported 2.6 billion impressions across social media, it's a pretty safe bet.
