Gisborne-based punk rock group Sit Down In Front have signed with Native Tongue Music Publishing.

Sit Down In Front have released two albums over their four-year career and have toured with Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel and The Chats.

The signing comes as the band, who are all still in high school, work on new material.

"We are super stoked to be part of the Native Tongue family, Up The Punks," the group said in a statement last Friday.

In signing with Native Tongue, Sit Down In Front join a roster that also includes Alex Lahey, Alice Ivy, Courtney Barnett, JessB, The Jezabels and recent signee Merk, among others.

“We were struck by the energy that SDIF bring to their music, and we are really excited to be involved with the band as they dive into their third record – while still at high school," Native Tongue's Head of Creative Matt Tanner said.

The publisher's writer relations manager Paul McLaney added, "Sit Down In Front are the punk band we need right now."
