Aussie punk group Amyl and the Sniffers have inked a deal with Mushroom Music Publishing.

The band released their debut self-titled album last year, following two EPs. The album earned them the ARIA Award for Best Rock Album as well as a place on the 2019 Australian Music Prize shortlist. In addition, the band also took home the $30,000 Levi's Music Prize last year.

The group was locked in for Coachella this year, but the festival was cancelled back in June due to the ongoing pandemic.

"We're real happy to join the Mushroom publishing family. Bring on the Home & Away syncs!" the band said of the new signing.

Erol Yurdagul, Mushroom's Head of A&R and Creative added: "Amyl are one of the most exciting bands coming out of Australia right now. They are uncompromising and stay true to themselves and their art and we couldn’t be happier to be working with them."

To release their album, the group signed in 2018 with Flightless Records, the label representing bands such as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Tropical Fuck Storm.

They are signed to ATO Records in North America and Rough Trade for the rest of the world, which made them the first Australian band to sign an album deal with Rough Trade since The Go-Betweens.
