Support duties for Red Hot Chili Peppers and getting named for Splendour In The Grass has seen anticipation levels rise high for Slowly Slowly's next single.

The Melbourne four-piece delivered exactly that with ‘Jellyfish’. Premiered on triple j’s Good Nights, it marks the group’s first musical offering since 2018 LP St. Leonards.

Of the new single, frontman Ben Stewart explains how the songwriting and recording process differed from the norm.

“Usually when we record a song it’s like we are trying to drag the song along behind us as we forage in the dark for what sounds best, but with this one it was the opposite," he says.

"We knew exactly the elements the song needed to work – it really felt like we were being led along the whole time, almost trying to catch up with what felt obvious, but yet really hard to capture."

‘Alchemy’ peaked at #12 on the TMN Hot 100 Alternative Chart with further cuts ‘Aliens’ and ‘Ten Leaf Clover’ both impacting the Top 20.
