While the Top 10 of the International Social Media charts remain in their weekly stranglehold, interesting movement is taking place further down the chart.

Just outside the Top 10 Coldplay are inching their way closer up the chart at #14 from #18, capitalising on the recent hype and success of their latest album and subsequent tour announcement, especially in Australia.

The band’s highest activity is coming from YouTube where they’ve recorded 90 million engagements. The figure is striking considering they only have 6.25 million subscribers. A big bulk of this is coming from the new music video to Up & Upthe single from the album A Head Full of Dreams has earned a healthy 21.5 million views, 579k likes and 32k comments. Rightfully so, their YouTube channel is ranked #3 in the world.

Facebook clocks 38 million fans, 620k of which are Australian, but they’ve scored 20k different activities, which definitely pales when compared to YouTube even though they’re currently ranked #10 in the world on the Facebook rankings.

Twitter sees 1.2 million of their 17 million fans engaging with their content - most of which stem from the music video as well as some behind the scenes images from their current tour -but all have a high daily post count and manage to retain that level of engagement. Much of the images are cross-posted from Instagram however, where they have 3.32 million fans and 655k weekly recorded engagements.

Meghan Trainor has also been seeing some big changes this week and has hit #22 from #28 on the overall chart. Stemming from the recent release of her sophomore album Thank You, she’s seen impressive engagement on Instagram and YouTube. Instagram sees 1.8 million activities from her 4.3 million fans with an average engagement rate of 5.31%. Her daily photos and videos are clocking up likes in the 100,000’s.

Her YouTube channel has scored 60.33 million activities in the past week, thanks namely to the music video for track Me Too as well as the behind the scenes video of it and a live performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she took a fall at the very end.
