The rise of country music at Australian Top 40 radio continues with Morgan Evans notching his first #1 single on the TMN Hot 100 airplay chart with ‘Day Drunk’.

Evans becomes the fourth Aussie artist to hit the summit this year after Amy Shark, 5 Seconds Of Summer and Dean Lewis.

Despite ‘Day Drunk’ shedding 4.6% of spins from last week, Nova and KIIS Sydney stood firm in their support of the track , as did Hit’s Fox FM, enough to edge the track above Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper's ‘Shallow’.

Meanwhile, ‘Day Drunk’ enters its 18th consecutive week at #1 on the TMN Country airplay chart.

It’s now equal fifth all-time for number of weeks spent at the top of the chart behind Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ (33), Eagles’ ‘How Long’ (32), Keith Urban’s ‘Parallel Line’ (21) and Sam Hunt’s ‘Body Like A Back Road’ (20).
