Chart Wrap: Dre takes top debut, The Rubens set personal best

Though they may have just fallen short of the #1 debut, The Rubens’ Hoops finds a strong #2 entry and marks the most successful release for the Menangle five-piece. Their debut self titled album The Rubens peaked at #3 on the ARIA Albums chart.

Hot 100

It’s week two at #1 for Lost Frequencies’ Are You With Me, maintaining its lead over The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face which still sits at #2. Calvin Harris finds a new peak at #3 with How Deep Is Your Love featuring The Disciples, as does DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge’s You Know You Like It at #5 from #6.  Pia Mia’s Do It Again featuring Chris Brown & Tyga breaks into the Top 10 at #6 from #11 while One Direction make their latest Top 10 entry with Drag Me Down at #10 from #25.

Adam Lambert just falls short of the Top 10 at #11 this week crawling up from #15. Sam Feldt’s Show Me Love featuring Kimberly Anne cracks the Top 20 at #17 from #21 as does Disclosure’s Omen featuring Sam Smith at #20 from #29. Nico & Vinz are well on their way to seeing another Top 10 single with That’s How You Know, the track making it to #26 from #40 on its third week in the chart. Their last to do so was In Your Arms which peaked at #7. With a quiet week in regards to movement, the most moved this week comes from a track that has seen a second wind in commercial airplay, Iggy Azalea’s Trouble featuring Jenifer Hudson which is up at #75 from #99.

Three new debuts make their way into the Top 50 this week. The first at #24 is Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams followed by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ Growing Up (Sloane’s Song) featuring Ed Sheeran at #40. Hardwell’s Follow Me featuring Jason Derulo entered at #41.

ARIA Singles

The Singles chart sees a new #1 this week with Delta Goodrem’s Wings following a jump to the top from #26 following last week’s debut live TV performance of the track on The Voice. Aside from the #1 debut there is little to no movement in the Top 10. Aston Merrygold’s Get Stupid takes a new peak at #12 from #22 as does Nico & Vinz’s That’s How You Know at #16 from #37. A strong debut at #20 is seen from Demi Lovato’s Cool For The Summer and marks a new peak for her on the Singles chart, the previous best being at #25 with Let It Go.  A lower debut at #43 comes from Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams which makes for the sixth track from her #1 charting album 1989 to make it into the ARIA Singles chart.

ARIA Albums

Three new debuts dot the Top 5 of the ARIA Albums chart this week. Debuting at #1 is the first new release from Dr. Dre in 16 years, Compton. The first ARIA #1 for the rapper and producer wins out over the #2 debut from The Rubens’ Hoops. At #4 is Luke Bryan’s Kill The Lights, his fifth studio album and his most successful to date, his previous best being Crash My Party, which peaked at #19. Though Bryan’s debut comes in at #4 in Australia, he’s beaten Dr. Dre to the #1 debut on the Billboard 200 this week, leaving Compton to debut at #2. The next few debuts come at #11 and #15 with Greta Bradman’s My Hero and Fear Factory’s Genexus respectively.  Following at #16 is Shane Nicholson’s Hell Breaks Loose, followed by Buried In Verona’s Vultures Above, Lions Below. The debut enters two places lower than their previous peak at #15 with 2014’s Faceless.
