The X Factor’s two-and-half hour live grand final on Channel Seven last night failed to impress on ratings figures from 2013.

The announcement of Marlisa Punzalan as grand final winner was watched by 1.428 million, according to official audience measurement source OzTAM. The preliminary overnight results are down 39% on last year, when 2.431 million tune in to see Dami Im take the crown.

While the grand final was the most watched show last night, with performances by Taylor Swift, Jess Mauboy and ex-X Factor judge Guy Sebastian giving Seven a 26% market share, the show is down 27% on last year’s ratings overall. In 2013 the show averaged 1.56 million viewers each night while this season averaged 1.14 million overnight viewers across the series.
