Tomorrowland Around The World virtual festival took place recently, attracting over a million viewers on a pay-per-view basis.

The festival usually take place in Belgium, but this year Tomorrowland responded to the global coronavirus pandemic by selling single and two-day tickets to access an online feed of performances.

As Pollstar reports, tickets cost €20 for the weekend or €12.50 for a day, which is also the same price punters can now pay to go back and view the festival on-demand.

The 1 million plus viewers surpassed a concert K-pop act BTS held recently which reached 756,600 viewers, netting the band over $2m despite the gig occuring virtually.

Tomorrowland organisers declined to share a breakdown of how many viewers purchased each type of ticket, or what the box office gross was for the event.

The lineup saw over 60 acts including David Guetta, Katy Perry, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Tiesto and more perform from four large green screen studios around the glone, with European artists actually recording from the real Tomorrowland venue in Boom, Belgium.

Aussie participants including Timmy Trumpet and NERVO had their performances recorded in Sydney, with other recordings took place in Los Angeles and Sao Paolo.
