UNIFIED Music Group, which manages artists including Ocean Ally, merci, mercy, Client Liason and Illy, has expanded the type of clients it's taking on, signing the Funny Business podcast to its roster.

The podcast started during Melbourne’s lockdowns last year, and has since reached almost 100 episodes and 50,000 downloads.

UNIFIED Music Group’s Dan Nascimento noted the traction of the Funny Business podcast and the bustling community its founders had built around it.

“I’m first and foremost a massive fan of the guys and everything they do with the podcast and across all of their creative ventures,” he said. “It’s an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to work with them and be a part of their journey.”

Founding CEO Jaddan Comerford said it was an honour to be working with podcast founders Rob Hicks and Lachlan Bradford, noting he was thrilled to bring a new type of talent into the UNIFIED family.

“I literally met Lach and Rob on LinkedIn and instantly fell in love with Funny Business and everything they’re about. Inspiring people to take chances with their careers, and allowing a platform for people to learn and express themselves, is something we all needed during COVID and I know I’ll need for the rest of my time,” he said.

Funny Business’ Hicks and Bradford said they are excited to see the new wave of podcasting in Australia.

“We’ve said from day one that we wanted to treat ourselves like business rockstars and business athletes, so to partner with UNIFIED Music Group who have built some of Australia’s biggest acts feels like the perfect place for us to push the boundaries of what people expect to see from a podcast,” they added.

The podcast has also announced a brand deal with non-alcoholic beer company Heaps Normal.
