FEATURE ALBUM
Violent Soho - WACO
[I Oh You/Mushroom]
Frontman Luke Boerdam has said WACO is about control and illusion, an incredibly erudite sentiment from a band whose charm lies in their simplicity. But as was made clear on WACO’s predecessor Hungry Ghost and the now Gold-certified Covered In Chrome, Violent Soho’s beauty lies in their earnestness.
Tracks like Viceroy, Fur Eyes’ kindred sister, and Like Soda, a triggering interjection of fuzzed-out anxiety, take the frequency pitch up a notch.
Just like Hungry Ghost, WACO offers no conclusions as it seizes time and space; but that’s what makes it so remarkable.
