When 2012 sophomore album Colourmeinkindness was followed by an indefinite hiatus, fans of the band’s darkened ruminants were left at a loss. Now, after the satiating EP Further Sky in 2014, this return to the long-player sees Basement wax melodic.

Tracks like the guitar-scraping Submission, the armed and self-aware title track, the melting pot of elevation and mocking, Oversized, and the exemplary and previously unchartered Aquasun, prove Basement are a cohesive force. Promise Everything is unlike anything else you’ll hear this year.
