TikTok has redoubled its Australian presence in recent weeks, and following several key hires for its Sydney office, the platform has now launched a local TVC campaign.

The campaign features some of the top local creators in the country, including Perth musician Jaycee, as well as a brand new, unreleased tune by Aussie acts.

Written by 2019 Young Australian of the Year and Yolngu man Baker Boy, in collaboration with fellow Indigenous rapper Dallas Woods, ‘Better Days’ also features the Australian Music Prize and ARIA-winning Sampa The Great.

The Airwolf remix of the track features on the first foray by TikTok into the local television advertising market, and TikTok's new Director of Music for ANZ, Ollie Wards, helped land the track for the campaign.

“I was really excited to hear that three of Australia’s best acts, Baker Boy, Dallas Woods and Sampa The Great, have collaborated on this new track, "Better Days",” said Wards, who departed triple j for TikTok in August.

“So I’m beyond stoked to have a remix of the song as the soundtrack for our first campaign. It’ll no doubt be a powerful hit as soon as it’s released.”

The campaign goes live this Sunday (September 19th) around the country, across digital and out of home as well as on TV.

Key phrases used throughout the campaign include calls to action like “make it happen”, “find your voice” and “it starts with you”.

TikTok has become a legitimate platform for Australian and New Zealand acts to launch into the mainstream music consciousness, with the likes of Sam Fischer, BENEE, Dom Dolla and Jawsh 685 all blowing up after their music began trending.

Earlier this week TikTok hired former YouTube and Google exec, Felicity McVay, as its local director of content partnerships, and former MTV boss Simon Bates as director of content programming.
