South Summit are on the climb.

With a new tune making a splash on triple j, the Perth outfit signs with Josh Lane at Four Tone Artists for Australian bookings, TIO can exclusively reveal.

The new deal is struck off the back of South Summit’s sold-out homecoming launch party for 'River Days,' which dropped last week following its premiere on triple j Unearthed, where it’s added for rotation.

“All it took was 90 seconds of ‘River Days’ for me to completely fall in love with this band,” Lane comments.

Soon after, Lane got busy digging through the five-piece’s catalogue and admittedly became “obsessed” with their output.

South Summit has been honing their sound and style in Perth while the rest of the country has been locked down.

With state borders starting to open-up and summer just around the corner, Lane is confident the rest of the nation will catch up quick.

“I’m incredibly excited to welcome South Summit to the Four Tone family and help them take these songs to stages across the country,” he explains. “They’ve got a very bright future and I’m excited to be on the team.”

Teaming up with the boutique booking agency should help unlock the next stage of the band’s ambitions.

“It’s a great opportunity to get more gigs, bigger gigs and to travel," comments bass player Josh Trindall. "Playing over East on tour and at festivals has always been a goal for us.”

Based in Melbourne and launched by Lane and Adam Montgomery in 2018, Four Tone Artists’ roster includes the Didirri, Slowly Slowly, Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers.

A dreamy indie number, ‘River Days' was produced by Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, Tired Lion) and mixed by William Bowden (Ball Park Music, Carla Geneve).

Triple j is on board. “Epic track right here,” double j Music Director Dave Ruby Howe says of ‘River Days,’ “it's got a little bit of everything. Gentle folk harmonies, yearning blues and then a swirling dubby climax.”

These “competing parts of South Summit could seemingly overpower the track,” he continues, “but this band nail the mix.”

It’s the followup to their debut EP Merlin's, which has accumulated 87,000-plus streams. Stream it below.
