Sony Music's marketing manager for cultural marketing, Samantha Kariyawasam, was recognised last night at B&T's 30 Under 30 Awards.

Kariyawasam was one of three winners in the marketing category alongside Alexandra Paxinos from the South Australian Tourism Commission and Annalise Booker from Carlton & United Breweries.

The trio were amongst a shortlist of 10 in the marketing category, while the overall 30 winners were picked from a shortlist of 106 youngsters. Overall, over 300 entries were received by B&T.

Kariyawasam joined Sony Music back in 2017, and last year also made it onto TMN's 30 Under 30 list in the sales & marketing category.

At the time, she noted the need for more diversity across the music industry.

"The workforce in Australia’s music industry doesn’t presently reflect Australia’s multicultural population. It’s important labels, agencies, and promoters make an active effort to be more inclusive as the new crop of talent from diverse backgrounds need to see themselves reflected within the teams they’re working with," she said.
