New smartphone app Pokémon Go may have been spurred by 30-something-year-olds’ nostalgic penchant for Game Boy and the late ‘90s, but its entrance in the digital-driven world is on track to eclipse its major players.

Not only did it surpass app installations on Tinder in its first weekend in the US, it has more users than the four-year-old Snapchat in the US, the six-year-old WhatsApp, and is on pace to overtake Twitter’s daily users.

According to data from SimilarWeb, the Pokémon app is installed in 5% of all android devices and is the fifth top grossing app in the US, beating out smartphone game giants Clash of Clans and Candy Crush.

Its engagement levels have also eclipsed Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Instagram, and Whatsapp. According to Android Authority, 60% of users who install the app are active users.

The game that lets you run around outdoors and catch virtual creatures when you’re close to them is also affecting the Spotify charts.

The streaming service said streams of the Pokémon theme song Gotta Catch ‘Em All have increased 362% globally in the past week.

Meanwhile, overall streams of Pokémon songs on Spotify have more than tripled in the past week, and the Top 5 most-streamed tracks on the service are all Pokémon related.

Pokémon’s top listeners are based in the following locations:

  1. Los Angeles
  2. London
  3. Sao Paulo
  4. Houston
  5. Oslo

Spotify is currently hosting 197,000 user-generated “Pokémon” playlists and a further 53,000 playlists that are titled "Pikachu". Due to the spike in streams Spotify is working on its own Pokémon Go playlist.

The game has also sent Nintendo investors’ shares through the roof. Nintendo’s shares grew by 25% during trading on Monday and its market cap has risen by nine billion dollars to $28 billion.
