Melbourne's Etihad Stadium gets Marvel upgrade
Disney has secured an eight-year deal to rename the Melbourne venue Marvel Stadium from September 1.

Melbourne’s 56,347-capacity Etihad Stadium is about to go through another name change.
The Herald Sun reported that an eight-year deal with Disney will see the sports and entertainment venue become Marvel Stadium from September 1.
Aside from a rebrand, the stadium will also have a dedicated interactive Marvel store for merchandise from franchise superheroes such as Iron Man and Captain America.
When construction started on the stadium in October 1997, it was under the name Victoria Stadium.
It was then Colonial Stadium, Telstra Stadium and from 2009, Etihad Stadium after Etihad Airways secured the naming rights.
The venue appeared in the 2007 film Ghost Rider (its name digitally changed to SoBe Dome) and Jessica Mauboy's single ‘Running Back’.
In recent years, it's hosted shows by Ed Sheeran, Adele, Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Eminem and KISS, and regularly appears in Pollstar magazine’s list of best-performing venues in the world.
