The MTV Unplugged Melbourne concert series returns in 2019, with the first act being The Rubens.

They film on Thursday, February 28 at the Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda before a live audience, for March screening.

The Rubens are the fourth in the series, presented by Vodka O and hosted by Visit Victoria after Gang of Youths, Amy Shark and DMA’S last year.

After a hectic 2018 on the road with dates in the northern hemisphere, a42-date sell-out arena tour of Australia and New Zealand with Pink and a #3 ARIA debut with the LO LA RU album, the band are heading back to North America.

Seven shows April 1 to 10, take in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto and Brooklyn.

They were onstage at Queensland’s Holy Green festival when they heard “Never Ever” (feat. Sarah) and “God Forgot” ranked #21 and #32 in triple j’s Hottest 100.

Scott Baldwin recalls, “Our guitar tech ran on stage to tell us the results as they were coming in, which we could share with the crowd there and then.
