MTV Australia are on the hunt for the next acoustic star

Following on from the announcement that Gang Of Youths will perform the first-ever Aussie MTV Unplugged gig, the network is launching a competition to search for the next big thing in acoustic music.

Musicians are invited to submit a video of themselves performing their own original track for the chance to be a part of MTV Unplugged Melbourne.

Successful applicants will be flown to Melbourne to perform at the Unplugged event before punters, celebrities and music industry heavyweights.

They'll also have their story captured and produced in a content series that will feature on MTV and MTV.com.au.

MTV is conducting the search in partnership with liquor brand Vodka O.

Michael Edmonds, General Manager Marketing, Asahi Premium Beverages, said: “Vodka O is excited to be partnering with MTV Unplugged, bringing to life Vodka O’s refreshed branding which will launch in September this year along with a new range of all natural pre-mixed drinks.”

Entries are open now to any Australian citizen over the age of 25 with applications closing July 9.
