Excerpts from interviews with music business legend Michael Gudinski have been pulled together for an exclusive podcast on Southern Cross Austereo's LiSTNR platform.

Gudinski passed away earlier this week, with much of the industry rocked by the news.

LiSTNR's production will be hosted by long-time friend and broadcaster, Barry Bissell, and is titled Michael Gudinski: The Ultimate Music Man.

LiSTNR said the Bissell-hosted production would be a “respectful and insightful podcast”, which had been compiled with the help of music journalist and close associate of the Mushroom Group family, Jeff Jenkins.

In the podcast, Gudinski can be heard sharing stories from his early days as a school dance promoter, as well as being an artist manager, and the start of Mushroom Records and Frontier Touring. It includes stories and tales from touring across Australia with some of the biggest artists in the world.

SCA said there was no bigger champion of Australian music than Gudinski.

“This self-made man was a force of nature and equally as passionate about family as he was about music,” it said in a statement.

SCA’s head of music, Mickey Maher, added: “Michael Gudinski: The Ultimate Music Man is a privilege to listen to. Hearing the great man share in his own words his passion for music, his fierce loyalty to his country and hometown, his ambition for artists and the work they created and the lessons he learnt working with everyone from Split Enz to Nick Cave is a true treat for music fans and budding entrepreneurs.

“Michael has left us all with a legacy we must protect and can also learn from.”

Today, Molly Meldrum broke his silence on the death of his friend, and said “the void that is felt is immeasurable”.
