Mia Rodriguez is now a major label artist.

The indie-pop superstar-in-waiting has struck a global deal with U.S.-based Atlantic Records, through a partnership with City Pop Records.

Mia, as she’s known to her two-million-plus TikTok followers, will release her music through Atlantic/City Pop Records for the rest of the world.

In Australia and New Zealand, she continues to release through City Pop Records, the label launched by Michael Chugg and Andrew Stone in 2019.

“So excited to announce that I’m now officially signed to Atlantic Records,” she says in a statement.

“They have so many amazing artists that I’ve looked up to my whole life, and I’m so excited to be a part of the family. The next few years in my life are gonna be insane, I just know it.”

At Atlantic, Mia joins a roster that includes Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Charli XCX, Coldplay, Melanie Martinez and legacy acts Led Zeppelin and INXS.

Rodriguez was the first signing to City Pop Records. Since coming on board 18 months ago, she has dropped three singles: her debut 'Emotion', and follow-ups 'Psycho' and 'Beautiful & Bittersweet' (both in 2020).

‘Psycho’ gave Mia her breakout, rocketing past 18 million combined plays on YouTube (10 million plays) and Spotify.

Today, she returns to the song with an acoustic cut to accompany the new Atlantic deal.

The Warner Music Group division is pumped for its new signing, and fresh music is on the way.

"We fell in love with Mia's vision the first time we met and really got a chance to visit the world she's creating, both musically and visually,” explains Pete Ganbarg, President of A&R, Atlantic Records.

“The new music she's working on is fantastic and we can't wait to share it."

Rodriguez’s career is ready for lift off. Last month, she won Best New Artist at the 2021 Rolling Stone Australia Awards, coming out ahead of other rising talent Jerome Farah, Stevan, Yours Truly, and Miiesha.

And in 2020 she was shortlisted for triple j's Unearthed Artist of the Year alongside Jaguar Jonze, Sycco, Yours Truly and the winner JK-47.

Mia is "an amazing talent," Chugg told TIO recently. "Watch this space."
