Veteran music publicist Tracy Zamot, whose career spanned some of the most influential labels and artists of the past three decades, has died at the age of 55, her family has confirmed.

Per Rolling Stone, Zamot died from a prolonged illness.

Zamot made her mark in the industry after graduating from the State University of New York at Albany before joining Atlantic Records in 1992 as a tour publicist. Over the next decade she became one of the label’s most respected voices in media, eventually rising to vice president.

There, she served as a representative for the likes of Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page & Robert Plant), Phil Collins and Genesis, Matchbox Twenty, Collective Soul, Rush, Pet Shop Boys, and Craig David, running national campaigns across print, TV, and emerging digital outlets.

Her influence continued beyond Atlantic when she moved to Virgin Records in the early 2000s, reuniting with former colleagues and supporting artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Gorillaz, and Iggy Pop. Following that, she held senior roles at Motown Records before shifting into digital music as part of Pandora Radio’s leadership team in 2015.

Her later career included a brief stint at SiriusXM, independent consulting, and, most recently, work with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music beginning in 2022.

Across her career, Zamot earned a reputation not just for her industry expertise but for her personable nature, sharp intellect and unwavering support for the artists she represented. She became a trusted figure among media professionals and musicians alike, known for her leadership and warmth.
