ASM Global poaches live entertainment veteran Matthew Lazarus-Hall as executive vice president, entertainment & content for the venues group.

For 13 years, Lazarus-Hall served alongside Michael Chugg as CEO of Chugg Entertainment, and worked on tours for Elton John, Robbie Williams, Radiohead, Coldplay, Keith Urban, Luke Combs, Bette Midler, Pearl Jam, AC/DC and others, and he’s founder of CMC Rocks.

After leaving Chugg Entertainment in 2016, Lazarus-Hall started his consultancy business, Square Circles Creative Solutions, then, in 2019, was named as senior vice president, Asia for global entertainment company AEG, based in Singapore and overseeing the business’s concerts, festivals and sporting events across the Asia Pacific region.

In his new position, Lazarus-Hall will work with ASM’s growing portfolio of venues in Australia and the Asia and MENA regions, and provide support on strategic direction and development of entertainment and other content.

His duties include the ASM Global-managed Kai Tak Sports Park, the largest integrated sports, entertainment and retail precinct in Hong Kong, due to open mid-2025.

“We have worked closely with Matthew over the past 20 years and he comes with great respect across the whole entertainment industry,” explains ASM Global (APAC) chairman and CEO Harvey Lister. “He will bring different perspectives to our organisation, and we look forward to the contribution he will make to the ASM Global family of venues.”

Prior to joining Chugg Entertainment, Lazarus-Hall had leadership roles at TEG’s ticketing business Ticketek, including a stint as operations director, overseeing major events including the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Headquartered in Brisbane, ASM Global’s Asia Pacific business (formerly known as AEG Ogden) operates a suite of venues including Qudos Bank Arena (Sydney), Brisbane Entertainment Centre, RAC Arena (Perth), International Convention Centre Sydney and more.

The international company changed hands last year when it was acquired by Legends in a multi-billion-dollar deal.
