After much speculation following his stints in hospital, founding member/rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young is out of AC/DC.

The band’s publisher and management Alberts Music, announced Young’s retirement on its website, buried in a post about AC/DC’s upcoming studio album Rock or Bust.

“Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band.  Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm’s illness, he will not be re-joining the band.”

AC/DC will release Rock or Bust on November 28; the 11-track LP is the band’s first in six years and the first recording not to feature Young in the band’s 41-year history.

AC/DC is expected to announce dates for a 2015 world tour in the coming months. Stevie Young, nephew of Angus and Malcolm Young, stepped in to play guitar on Rock or Bust, he’ll accompany the band on tour.
