Madonna debuts first single from 14th studio album 'Madame X'

'Medellín' premiered on Apple Music’s Beats 1.

Madonna’s 14th studio album Madame X will be released on June 14 in Australia through Universal Music Australia.

Globally the release is being handled by Live Nation, Interscope Records and Maverick.

Leadoff track ‘Medellín’, with Colombian superstar Maluma, was Zane Lowe’s World Record today on Apple Music’s Beats 1.

The track was co-produced by her longtime collaborator Mirwais and captures the spirit of Maluma’s hometown.

"I met him backstage at the (MTV) Video Music Awards and he was very sweet," she said. "The next day sent me flowers and said what a great honor it was to meet me.

"Then I heard from his man get that he wanted to collaborate with me so I told that to Mirwais so Mirwais and I start listening to his music more closely and like all the reggae-tone that he does.

The iconic singer-songwriter will unveil its world premiere during the globally televised MTV Presents Madonna Live & Exclusive: ‘Medellín’ Video World Premiere, on Thursday, April 25 at 6am Australian time.

Influenced creatively by living in Lisbon, Portugal over the past several years, Madame X is a collection of 15 new songs that celebrate Madonna’s career-long affair with Latin music and culture as well as other global influences.

Singing in Portuguese, Spanish and English, highlights on the album also includes the anthemic ‘I Rise’, the Jamaican dance hall vibes of ‘Future’ featuring Quavo, and co-produced by Diplo, as well as the sonically innovative ‘Dark Ballet’.

Recorded over 18 months in Portugal, London, New York and Los Angeles, Madonna also collaborated with producers Mike Dean and Diplo, among others.

Madame X will come in a standard and deluxe version of the album.
