Our Golden Friend owner and director Lorrae McKenna is behind Golden Grants, a new grant-funding consultancy service, The Music Network can exclusively reveal.

The difficult, specific and somewhat tedious task that is grant writing is a job McKenna and Our Golden Friend have handled on the quiet for some time.

With the launch today (Aug. 30) of Golden Grants, that activity becomes an official service.

“I’m very excited to be launching Golden Grants into the world officially today,” McKenna comments in a statement to TMN.

“Grant consulting and grant writing services are something we have offered under the banner of Our Golden Friend for the last 18 months to select external clients and I’m really happy to now be able offer this service to a larger group of clients and have Golden Grants become its own separate entity.”

Golden Grants operates under the umbrella of Our Golden Friend, an independent record label and management collective, based in Melbourne and set up in December 2015 by McKenna and her partner and fellow Labrador fan Skube Burnell.

Today, its management clients include RVG, Good Morning and Georgia Maq.

The new arm works to “demystify, streamline and educate” their clients in sourcing potential funding opportunities for creative projects, reads a statement.

McKenna's new venture will navigate Australia's network of grants, awards and fellowships. And, ultimately, its services should unleash creatives to do what they do best – create.

“I want Golden Grants to be a gateway for creatives to help them gain the funding they need to get their brilliant ideas off the ground,” McKenna adds.

“I hope to provide a platform that makes funding opportunities more accessible to everyone and to help people successfully navigate the creative funding opportunities available in Australia.”

In October of 2016, McKenna left Remote Control Records, where she was full-time as marketing and promotions manager, to focus on Our Golden Friend. She's a former TMN Manager Of The Month.
