Lindsay Rimes honoured as Kane Brown's 'Heaven' surpasses 1 billion streams

Nashville-based Australian songwriter and producer Lindsay Rimes has joined the exclusive 1,000,000,000 List, which recognises songs with Aussie contributors which have surpassed one billion streams across all streaming platforms.

Rimes co-wrote Kane Brown's 2017 hit 'Heaven', which is now the 35th song overall - and the first country track - to join the list.

'Heaven' was co-written by Rimes, Shy Carter and Mark McGinn at a songwriting retreat hosted by Sony.

It went on to top the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and reached #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart which blends airplay, streaming and sales data. It peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit #1 on the Billboard Canada Country Chart.

APRA AMCOS CEO, Dean Ormston, said the music rights management organisation had been cheering Rimes on over the years, and couldn't be prouder of what he has achieved.

"His hard work and dedication are inspiring to so many songwriters here in Australia. He's a hugely respected writer in the US, and an all-round great guy. We congratulate Lindsay on his Billions Award achievement and are thrilled to have 'Heaven' as our first country song on The 1,000,000,000 list."

Josh Van Valkenburg, executive vice president of Nashville A&R for Sony Music Publishing, added that Rimes is a hitmaker on any continent.

Other recent entrants to the list include Masked Wolf and Tryon Hapi for 'Astronaut In The Ocean', and Khaled Rohaim and Te Whiti Warbrick for Rihanna's 'Needed Me'.
