Jimmy Barnes will mark 40 years since the release of his landmark album For the Working Class Man with a national tour and a deluxe reissue of the record.
The 'Working Class Man 40th Anniversary Tour', presented by MG Live and Face to Face Touring, will see Barnes perform the entire 1985 album live, along with hits from across his solo career. The six-date outdoor tour begins November 22nd at Mount Duneed Estate in Geelong and finishes February 7th at Sandalford Wines in Western Australia (see full dates below).
Barnes will be joined by special guests ICEHOUSE, Ian Moss, and Kate Ceberano.
Originally released in December 1985, For the Working Class Man included tracks like “No Second Prize”, “Ride the Night Away”, and the title song “Working Class Man”, written by Journey’s Jonathan Cain. The album spent seven weeks at No. 1 in Australia and has sold over 500,000 copies.
A remastered 40th anniversary edition of the album will be released on November 14th via Mushroom Music. Formats include double ‘flame’ coloured vinyl, CD, cassette, and a limited-edition box set of coloured 7” singles. The box set will also include a new acoustic version of “Working Class Man” and a 10-minute spoken-word track by Barnes.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, August 7th at 2pm local time via Ticketmaster. Pre-sales begin Monday, August 4th for Telstra Plus members, followed by MG Live, Face to Face, and fan club pre-sales on Wednesday, August 6th.
Last week, Barnes also announced he will perform at the 2025 Logie Awards.
