Jess Day is the latest signing to Wonderlick/Sony Music Entertainment Australia, where she joins a roster that includes Amy Shark, Holy Holy, Montaigne and more.

Announced Wednesday (Oct. 27), Day, who hails from Adelaide, celebrates her new label deal with the release of ‘Naked,’ which premiered last night on triple j.

A self-taught producer, singer, songwriter and composer, Day writes all aspects of her music, from cutting demos in her bedroom and putting down all the instrumental parts.

The new song, a personal journey penned in the aftermath of a breakup, is the first to be released from Day's forthcoming project, details for which remain under wraps.

The new single is accompanied with a music video starring Brenna Harding from Puberty Blues and Black Mirror.

As Day matured and left her “super depressed” teenage years in the rear view, “I became more interested in the idea of songwriting becoming a skill that I could refine, and not have to rely on those lows,” she explains.

“I would be surprised if I showed my music now to my teenage self. It’s definitely a lot more calculated and less of a diary entry. It’s more of a scrapbook that I’m going to show to somebody.”

Day emerged with a string of authentic indie-pop nuggets including ‘Why Is She So Beautiful?’ and ‘Rabbit Hole’, which earned her Feature Artist honours and rotation with triple j and Triple J Unearthed.

Day’s catalogue, which includes 2019’s ‘Affection’ and 2020’s ‘Signals’, has accumulated north of 1 million Spotify streams.

COVID-19 notwithstanding, Day’s story continues to build in a live sense, with a sold-out 2021 national run opening for Spacey Jane, and her very own headline trek.

Wonderlick Recording Company is a joint venture of Sony Music and Wonderlick Entertainment, founded in 2007 by co-CEO’s Gregg Donovan and Stu MacQueen.

Today, Wonderlick Entertainment gathers management, recording, publishing and promoting activities.
