Australian DJ Hot Dub Time Machine has launched the second season of his music podcast Backstage Soundtrack.

The podcast sees Hot Dub Time Machine's Tom Lowndes delve deeper into the stories behind some of the biggest personalities in Australian music today, offering a glimpse at each guest's life and music career across each episode.

Season two of Backstage Soundtrack begins this week with a new episode featuring Sam Hales of The Jungle Giants. Upcoming guests include Peking Duk's Adam Hyde and DJ/producer KLP.

Lowndes said that Backstage Soundtrack was the ultimate podcast for Australian music fans and noted how much he enjoyed working on the podcast's second season while touring was off the cards.

"Making Backstage Soundtrack has been an absolute joy. It’s not only been a great way to connect with muso mates while we’re all locked down, it’s been a real voyage of musical discovery," Lowndes said.

"I love finding new songs, and no one knows music like musicians. I’m also always fascinated by the musical history of these artists. Are they prodigies who played piano from age four like Jack from Bag Raiders, or did they not have any training at all before crafting their first hit like Hugo from Flight Facilities?"
