In an unexpected move, Green Day have made the decision to part with long-standing manager Pat Magnarella, who has guided their career through eight albums over the last 21 years.

As Variety reports, the band will instead sign with Jonathan Daniel of Crush Music, whose stable includes Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco, as well as Sia, Lorde, and Train.

Green Day had signed with the California-based Magnarella in 1996 following their third studio album and breakout multi-platinum hit Dookie in 1994, and won four Grammy awards in the years that followed.

Magnarella also produced several of Green Day's non-studio projects, including the album for their American Idiot musical, and operated frontman Billie-Joe Armstrong's independent label Adeline Records.

His management roster at Pat Magnarella Management has featured AFI, the All-American Rejects, Weezer and the Goo Goo Dolls throughout the years, but Green Day were certainly the biggest jewel in his management crown.

Both managers declined to comment to Variety on the move.

Crush Music recently made another big move by starting up a joint label venture with Warner, Future Crush Music, which saw Sia end her deal with Sony to instead license her music internationally through WMG's Atlantic Records.
