NB: We originally reported that Caroline would be the Australian and New Zealand distributor for Glassnote. This is incorrect - Glassnote is distributed in these territories by Liberator, part of the Mushroom Group.

Full service independent music company Glassnote Entertainment Group has inked a deal with Universal Music Group.

UMG will become worldwide distributor of Glassnote’s recordings in all regions excluding Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The deal, which launches officially on March 1, will see Glassnote acts like Mumford & Sons, Chvrches, Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club, Childish Gambino, and Givers join the UMG fold. However, international releases by Mumford & Sons and Chvrches will be handled by their current overseas labels, Island Records UK and Virgin EMI UK - both of which are UMG sub-labels. Glassnote already have a distribution agreement with UMG’s Canadian arm, which they plan to continue.

The announcement ties in with Glassnote’s launch of affiliate company Resolved. Resolved was designed to provide financial and creative resources, operational support and strategic guidance. The company will be distributed by UMG.

Daniel Glass, President and Founder of Glassnote Entertainment Group, says, “We are honoured and excited to embark on this new journey with Universal. Lucian (Grainge, CEO UMG) understood our vision from the start and his embrace of passionate, creative, entrepreneurs makes Universal the perfect home for our companies.”

Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of UMG, says, “Daniel Glass is, quite simply, one of the most successful label entrepreneurs of the last decade. He represents the kind of innovation and creativity that defines who we are and who we aspire to be as an organisation, and we’re looking forward to many years of collaboration and growth together.”
