Five Australasian acts up for MTV EMAs

Five Australasian artists are up for wins at the MTV Europe Music Awards, held at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan on Sunday October 25.

Taylor Swift leads with nine record breaking nominations, including best song, female, live act and for her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, Bad Blood. Justin Bieber followed with six mentions.

5 Seconds of Summer are up against their close buddies One Direction in two categories.

They’re both in Best Pop Act along with Swift, Bieber and Ariana Grande.

The two bands also contend for Biggest Fans, as do Swift, Bieber and Katy Perry.

Sia’s Elastic Heart clip is against those by Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Pharrell Williams for Best Video.

AC/DC could beat out Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Muse and Royal Blood for Best Rock Act.

Lorde is listed in the Best Alternative Act list alongside Fall Out Boy, Florence + the Machine, Lana Del Rey and Twenty One Pilots.

Iggy Azalea’s appearance at last year’s Wireless Festival in London is nominated as one of the stand-out live gigs in Best World Stage.
