First three sessions announced for CBAA conference

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) announced the first sessions for its annual conference, which will be held on the Gold Coast from November 8—10.

PLENARY: WHY DIVERSITY IN MEDIA MATTERS

The latest Census findings that 49% of Australians have at least one parent born overseas, is not reflected in the mainstream media.

Antoinette Lattouf, director of Media Diversity Australia, will explore why our newsrooms would benefit from increased cultural and linguistic diversity – from contacts, to story ideas and varied perspectives. This session will also explore structural barriers and unconscious bias impeding culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) journalists.
