AIR, Sounds Australia and the PPCA will take members from Australian independent labels to Indie Week in New York this June.

Last year the three industry bodies took a delegation of ten members to Association of Independent Music’s (A2IM’s) Indie Week for the first time. The group attended the invite-only conference for independent record labels, networked with some of the globe’s most iconic indie music companies and attended the 2013 American Independent Music Awards, ’The Libera Awards.’

Successful participants for this year’s ’invite-only’ event will attend the awards, a conference focused on digital revenues and marketing, meetings with YouTube, Spotify, Pandora and Rdio and a networking event with music supervisors and synchronisation companies in LA, hosted by industry development initiative Sounds Australia.

Sounds Australia and PPCA will cover registration fees and handle entry to panel discussions, conferences and networking events. The chosen delegates are responsible for booking and funding all flights, transfers and accommodation. Attending Australian labels must have a catalogue of at least five albums and represent the music of at least three artists.

"A2IM’s Indie Week brings together many of the most progressive and iconic indie labels in the world", Nick O’Byrne, GM of AIR, tells TMN.  "What we’ve learnt by attending the conference previous years is that Australian labels are facing the same issues and challenges as their overseas peers. Bringing a delegation of indie labels Australian labels to talk shop and share best-practice will benefit all the artists that they represent and will open up new revenue streams and opportunities."

Australian independent labels interested in participating are asked to express their interest by filling out a short survey here before Monday March 28.
