Crowded House’s comeback album is on track for a Top 5 finish in the U.K.

Neil Finn and Co. dropped their seventh and latest album studio last Friday (June 4), Dreamers Are Waiting (EMI), the follow-up to 2010’s Intriguer.

Based on data published overnight by the Official Charts Company, Dreamers should give the folk-rock act their highest-charting album in 14 years and a fifth Top 10.

It’s at No. 4 on the OCC’s midweek chart, which is led by Wolf Alice’s new effort Blue Weekend (Dirty Hit).

Crowded House

Crowded House went to No. 1 in the U.K. with 1996’s Recurring Dream best-of, and entered the top tier with 1991’s Woodface (No. 6), 1993’s Together Alone and 2007’s Time On Earth (No. 3).

Recorded between Los Angeles and Auckland, Dreamers Are Waiting re-unites the ARIA Hall of Famers with Woodface producer Mitchell Froom, and welcomes Finn’s sons Liam and Elroy into the line-up, alongside founding bass player Nick Seymour.

Speaking ahead of its release, Finn told this reporter a follow-up to Dreamers Are Waiting might come sooner than you think.

“We're already considering another record later in the year, given we still have a little bit more time to fill in where we can't be touring,” he says.

“There's potential for the growth of the band in this line up, which is very exciting.”
