Chris Brown’s Australian and New Zealand tour has been cancelled just one week before his first performance date.

Both his promoter Castor & Ford Agency and Ticketek have released statements.

Castor & Ford posted the following to its Facebook page:

Chris Brown’s December 2015 tour in both Australia and New Zealand will not take place.

The shows scheduled at Perth Arena on 9 December, Rod Laver Arena on 12 December, Allphones Arena on 14 December and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 16 December are postponed at this time.

Mr Brown and the promoters both remain positive that the tour will take place in the near future.

Mr Brown wishes to express his deepest gratitude to the fans for their support and looks forward to a successful tour in the near future.

As previously reported by TMN in late September, Brown’s tour dates in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from December 9 -16 were under scrutiny from Australia’s Minister for Immigration Peter Dutton due to his history of domestic violence.

The singer was issued a formal notice of intent to refuse his visa in September. He was given 28 days to explain why he should be allowed to enter the country - or to withdraw the visa application.

In 2009, Brown was sentenced to nine months probation for punching then-girlfriend Rihanna with a closed fist, dragging her out of a car and threatening to kill her. Rihanna ended up in hospital, the police report can be read here. In 2013 he plead guilty to an unrelated felony assault charge and was jailed.

While Brown has visited Australia twice since brutally beating Rihanna in 2009 he has already been banned from the UK and Canada over his criminal history.
