Busby Marou, David Bridie to tour with Australia Council grants

Eleven grants totalling $198,000 have been announced by Australia Council as part of its Contemporary Music Touring Program.

The 11 funded tours start in June and run through to early 2020 and will result in over 150 gigs.

The next round of funding closes in October.

Today’s announcement included:

Busby Marou, ($15,000) for their 14 show ‘Tiny Towns’ tour starting October.

David Bridie ($11,000) national tour in support of the release of his latest album The Wisdom Line, starting June.

KG ($14,960) the South African-born Canberra-based rapper, for an 18 show national tour kicking off in July.

David Garnham & Reasons To Live ($15,000) for a 37 date national tour starting July, including workshops in Alice Springs, Katherine & Darwin.

Far Nth Qld First Nations reggae band Zennith ($14,700), for a national tour from July behind forthcoming album release.

Stanley Woodhouse aka Skyscraper Stan ($6,000) for a 15 date national tour to support his new album starting July

Perth’s Tura New Music ($30,000) for their 15-date ‘Sonus’ Tour to Northern Western Australia starting July and featuring digeridoo legend Mark Atkins, singer Naomi Pigram, clarinettist Aviva Endean (Aust Art Orchestra, DD Dumbo) and cellist Judith Hamann

Jazz bassist Tamara Murphy ($14,900) for national album launch tour starting August for her band Spirograph Studies

Regional Arts Victoria, ($17,567) for a tour of regional and remote Tasmania by Kutcha Edwards.

Alt-country singer Gretta Ziller ($14,220) for a 25 date album tour kicking off October.

Marc Peckham aka legendary First Nations producer Monkey Marc ($30,000) for a regional and remote area tour starting October, to launch his new album Vital Sound.
