BTS’ year has started on a winning note with the K-pop superstars bagging a bunch of trophies at the 34th annual Golden Disc Awards, held Saturday and Sunday at South Korea’s Gocheok Sky Dome.

The Big Hit Entertainment outfit cleaned up with the top two prizes, taking out the digital song (for ‘Boy With Luv’) and album Daesangs, for Map of the Soul: Persona.

The septet also snagged their respective Bonsang categories which, Forbes explains, can be thought of as nominees, though they’re all in fact winners (just for something different, Daesangs are chosen from the 10 Bonsangs).

BTS also scooped the TikTok Golden Disc Popularity and the Fans' Choice K-Pop Star awards, and performed a mini-set of songs featuring ‘Boy With Luv,’ ‘Dionysus’ and ‘Mikrokosmos.’

The lads also paid tribute to their well-drilled fan base, ARMY.

As he strode to the podium to collect the album of the year gong, RM said: ‘Last year was such a happy year. We worked hard, and we also rested,” Metro reports. “I remember when I first met PD Bang Shi Hyuk in the spring of 2010. Since then, for the past 10 years, our 2010s were filled to the brim with the name BTS."

Listen to 'Boy With Luv':

BTS is way bigger than the bully at your school. You could make (and win) an argument that there’s no one bigger in pop right now.

Last year, the seven-strong act’s Map of the Soul: Persona opened at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, shifting a career-best 230,000 equivalent units. It was their third title to lead the big chart after Love Yourself: Tear and Love Yourself: Answer.

In the U.S., no other act has cracked the top 10. BTS already has four top 10s to their name, including those three chart-leaders which all came in less than a year.

They even have their own, dedicated vertical on Billboard.com, alongside such categories as “country” and “business.”

In recent days, the group’s record label sent the ARMY into a frenzy with a four-word tweet: “April 2020. Stay tuned.” Whether it’s a new release, a tour, a film or all three, remains unclear but all will be revealed soon.
