Bonnaroo to Return in 2026 with New Safety Measures

Bonnaroo will return to Manchester, Tennessee in June 2026 after this year's festival was cancelled due to heavy rains and flooding at the site.

Organisers have announced several changes to prevent future weather-related cancellations and improve the overall festival experience.

"We've been taking your feedback to heart over the past few weeks as we plan improvements and talk about what's next for the festival," organisers said in a statement on Thursday (as per Rolling Stone). "And now, it's time to share those plans with you."

Bonnaroo will be implementing significant changes to the festival grounds, including the removal of campsite areas that are most susceptible to flooding. This modification will result in reduced capacity at The Farm, which organisers have positively framed as providing "more dancing space" for attendees.

To alleviate the congestion that typically occurs during arrival, camping entry will now begin on Wednesday instead of Thursday, giving festival-goers an extra day to settle in before the music begins.

This isn't the first time weather has disrupted the popular festival. Bonnaroo was similarly cancelled in 2021 due to issues arising from Hurricane Ida. Following that cancellation, organisers consulted with drainage and land management experts to improve conditions at The Farm during heavy, sustained rainfall. While a multi-million dollar improvement project was initiated, it had not been completed before this year's rain-soaked event.

Organisers have now committed to dedicating "an additional multi-million-dollar budget" during the 2025/2026 off-season to prioritise improvements to the campgrounds and other areas affected by the extreme weather in 2025. These improvements will include reseeding the property, increasing access roads within the campgrounds, adding more drainage, and reinforcing primary water runoff pathways.

Although there was consideration given to changing the festival dates to avoid extreme weather, after consulting with weather experts, organisers determined that "our traditional June time frame remains the most optimal time of year for Bonnaroo."

When the festival returns in 2026, organisers plan to "kick things off Thursday evening on the What Stage with an epic welcome party" to celebrate Bonnaroo's return to The Farm.

The 2026 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is scheduled for June 11th-14th in Manchester, Tennessee.
