Bluesfest Byron Bay has topped Billboard's Boxscore list, after grossing just shy of US$10M for the five-day festival.

The Australian festival trounced big O2 arena shows by Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran -- clearing over US$3.5M more than Bruno Mars' four shows at the London arena -- as well as Billy Joel's May 13 show at Dodger's Stadium.

Bluesfest ticket sales grossed $9,909,630 US across the five days of the festival, marking the second time the festival has topped the list, after doing so in 2015.

Bluesfest Director Peter Noble said of the achievement: “It is great to be on top of the Billboard Boxscore listing. [It's the] second time for us at Bluesfest, what a thrill. Our 2017 festival was truly a great one, and now we are full on working on our 2018 edition next Easter.

"I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard especially in our industry: the managers, artists, agents, production people, and every part of our supporting network. There are thousands of you, take a bow. You are brilliant.”
