Australian Music Vault celebrates Roger Knox life with song’n’talk event
As a proud member of the Gomeroi nation, his story of survival and resilience inspired many people.
The Australian Music Vault is presenting an event based around country music pioneer Roger Knox.
The Vault is currently staging a Knox display at its home in Arts Centre Melbourne to coincide with his induction into the National Indigenous Music Awards hall of fame.
On Thursday October 11 at 1 pm, there is a free event at the newly opened MPavilion in Melbourne at which he will over an hour perform with his son Buddy and talk about his life.
No bookings are necessary.
Knox got involved in the music industry after he left the mission he grew up in at the age of 17, and moved to Tamworth.
He also has toured extensively within the prison system, particularly in NSW and QLD where many Aboriginal men and women are incarcerated.
In a career spanning four decades, Knox brought joy and healing to audiences in remote communities and capital cities, and in prisons throughout Australia, Canada and North America.
