Aussies rank in DJ Mag Top 100 poll

Australian EDM acts ranked in the twentieth annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll.

Twin sisters Nervo, originally from Melbourne, jumped 30 spots to #16.  They were also one of the two female acts on the list.

This year Miriam and Olivia Nervo played major festivals as Ultra Music (Miami), Electric Daisy Carnival (Las Vegas), Tomorrowland (Belgium), The Day After (Central America) and Alive Music (Mexico).  They also recorded with Nicky Romero, released the single Hold On, played the MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet Ceremony, and appeared on US sitcom One Life to Live.

The Gold Coast-hailed US-based Stafford Brothers made their first entry into the public-voted poll, coming in at #90. Aside from being part of the Cash Money Records family and releasing Hello with Lil Wayne and Christina Milian, they’ve also been working with The Runners. This year saw the duo increase their profile with their Clear Channel Saturday night radio show and their online DJ training program on the DJ Master Course website, which they launched last month.

Britain’s Carl Cox, who spends six months of the year in Melbourne, was at #46 overall, and the highest placed techno DJ. Cox has topped the list twice in the past.

This year’s poll saw a generational change, with 25-year old Dutch DJ/producer Hardwell pipping five-times winner Armin van Buuren. Hardwell is the youngest ever winner.
