Apple Music launches new Shazam Discovery Top 50 Chart

Apple has launched a new, predictive discovery chart based on Shazam data.

Apple Music has launched a brand new chart; Shazam Discovery Top 50, ready to identify local and emerging artists based on the platform's data.

The new chart is a weekly global ranking of 50 breaking artists, made possible thanks to the 20 million Shazams that take place worldwide on a daily basis.

Australia is one of the localities with data being used for the chart, with more countries set to be added over time. ARIA-chart topping Tones and I currently sits at #3 on the chart (Wednesday, August 21).

"Using Shazam's proprietary algorithms, this new Discovery chart offers a unique predictive view on rising artists and reacting tracks to Apple Music subscribers," explains an announcement by Apple."

Apple Music expects the chart to mostly represent emerging artists, and will be updated every Tuesday.
